BE YOUR OWN UNIVERSE WITH THIS ASTONISHING ASTRONOMICAL SPHERE RING
This is a 16th-century gold ring that unfolds to reveal an ornate astronomical sphere. Inspired by the collection in the Swedish History Museum in Stockholm.
Most people will buy at least one pair, for themselves and their lover, this is a symbol of love.
Romance from 500 years ago, "Folding the ring means love, unfolding the ring means the universe".
During the 16th and 17th centuries, these astronomy tools were sized down to become fashionable finger rings that moved just like regular armillary spheres.
When closed, they look like any other ring, but as the different bands are fanned out, the rings take on a unique quality. Built with eight moving bands, these intricate pieces of jewelry with inscriptions and signs of the zodiac placed in enamel around the bands are executed by skilled craftsmen.
